The First of BMW’s Next-Generation Electric Vehicles to be Unveiled at 2025 Munich Auto Show
BMW has confirmed that the first of its next-generation electric vehicles will be revealed in September at the 2025 Munich auto show, sporting the iX3 badging. This model is part of the Neue Klasse family of EVs, with a camouflaged prototype already showcased at the annual financial results conference.

The Neue Klasse iX3 has entered pre-production at BMW’s Debrecen, Hungary, plant and is expected to borrow styling from the Vision Neue Klasse X concept. Following this model, a sedan based on the Vision Neue Klasse concept will be introduced, possibly reviving the BMW i3 name.
The Neue Klasse vehicles are named after BMW’s family of vehicles from the 1960s and will showcase the automaker’s next-generation interface, including a panoramic head-up display and AI integration, along with advanced electric powertrain hardware.

BMW has also announced the use of compact, cost-efficient induction motors for the front axle in all-wheel-drive models, while retaining current-excited synchronous motors for the rear axle. The Neue Klasse will feature an 800-volt electrical architecture and cylindrical battery cells, with some models utilizing LFP chemistry for cost-effectiveness.
The Neue Klasse iX3 is expected to be available in the U.S., with production locations in Mexico, Hungary, and Germany. However, potential challenges from government policies, such as tariff disputes, could impact the availability of these models in the U.S.
