Tesla to Release Update 2025.14.6 to Address Vehicle Sleep Issue
Tesla is known for its rigorous bug-testing process, but occasionally, bugs slip through the cracks. One European Tesla owner, @darkwaffle48484 on X, noticed that their 2024 Model 3 was experiencing higher battery drain while parked than usual. Instead of the typical 1-2% loss per week, the vehicle was losing 3-4% per night.
Upon monitoring their Tesla widget, they discovered that the car was not entering deep sleep mode, as indicated by frequent recent connection times. After reaching out to Tesla Service and consulting with other owners facing the same issue, it was confirmed that a firmware bug affecting the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) was to blame.
The TCU, located on the ceiling of newer Tesla models like the Model 3 and Model Y, serves as the central communication hub for the vehicle. It manages cellular and GPS services, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections. Tesla Service assured that the bug would be addressed in the upcoming update 2025.14.6, with the possibility of a different version number.
It is worth noting that this bug may be region-specific due to the unique hardware components and firmware versions required by TCUs to comply with local standards and regulations. The exact timeline for the fix rollout remains uncertain, but speculation suggests that Tesla might resume with update 2025.14.3 or the 2025.14.6 version.
