Tesla is making significant changes to how customers in Europe and the United Kingdom can access its premium driver-assistance features. According to notices on the company’s vehicle configurator sites in Germany, France, Italy, and the UK, the option to purchase Full Self-Driving (FSD) or Enhanced Autopilot for a one-time flat fee will soon be discontinued.
European customers have until May 21, 2026, to make a one-time payment for FSD or Enhanced Autopilot, as long as they take delivery of the vehicle by June 30. In the Netherlands, where regulatory approvals have progressed more quickly, the deadline is May 15.
After these dates, Tesla will transition both FSD and Enhanced Autopilot to a monthly subscription model. While exact pricing for each region has not been finalized, initial data from the Netherlands suggests that the subscription will cost around €99 per month. In the UK, where the current one-time price for FSD is £6,800, it is anticipated to shift to a monthly fee of approximately £89.
This move aligns with Tesla’s strategy in North America, where the company has been promoting subscriptions ($99 per month in Canada and the US) to make software features more accessible. Analysts in the industry believe that the timing of this change indicates Tesla’s expectations for broader regulatory approval of FSD Supervised throughout the European Union in the near future.
The shift to a monthly subscription model for FSD and Enhanced Autopilot represents a significant change in how Tesla customers in Europe and the UK will access these premium driver-assistance features. By offering a subscription option, Tesla aims to make these advanced technologies more accessible to a wider range of customers.
