Tesla Discontinues Vinyl Wrap Option for Cybertruck
Tesla has made a surprising move by discontinuing its vinyl wrap option for the Cybertruck. The option is no longer available in the automaker’s online accessories shop, leaving many potential buyers disappointed.
Reports from Canada’s Drive Tesla indicate that the removal of the Cybertruck wrap option came after Tesla reduced the color choices from 11 to just three. This change was not formally announced by Tesla, as the company does not have a public relations department for clarification.
Although Tesla still offers vinyl wraps for the Model 3 and Model Y, the Cybertruck’s unique flat, angular surfaces made it an ideal candidate for a wrap. Wrapping these panels could also provide added protection for the stainless steel material.
Currently, the only available colors for the Cybertruck are Satin Rose Gold, Satin Stealth Black, and Satin Ceramic White, priced at up to $6,500. These options are more expensive than aftermarket wraps, with installation services only available at three service centers in California.
Since its debut in production form last year, the Cybertruck has faced challenges, including falling short of Tesla’s promised 500-mile range. Additionally, the range-extender battery option, priced at approximately $16,000, is not user-installable, requiring a $2,000 deposit.
Despite its popularity, the Cybertruck has been subject to six recalls since deliveries began earlier this year. The most recent recall addresses potential faults in the inverters of 2,431 trucks, which could lead to a loss of torque to the wheels and necessitate inverter replacements.
