Overall, the launch of the R2 configurator provides potential buyers with the opportunity to personalize their electric SUV and prepare for the upcoming release. With deliveries set to begin this spring, the excitement for the Rivian R2 continues to grow as customers eagerly await the chance to experience this innovative electric vehicle. Rivian, the electric vehicle manufacturer, is making waves in the industry with its unique offerings for customers. One of the standout features of the Rivian R2 is the option for a fitted spare tire, which is a rarity in modern vehicles. While many automakers have moved towards eliminating spare tires to save weight and increase efficiency, Rivian is bucking the trend by giving customers the option to add a spare tire to their R2.
In addition to the fitted spare tire option, Rivian also offers its Autonomy+ package for an additional $2,500. This package includes advanced autonomous driving features, although it’s important to note that Rivian is not currently shipping cars with its lidar package. Despite this, Rivian is constantly innovating and looking towards the future of autonomous driving technology.
Production of the Rivian R2 officially began about three weeks ago, and the company is ramping up production at its plant in Normal, Illinois. Rivian estimates that it will produce between 20,000 and 25,000 R2s by the end of 2026. Additionally, Rivian is planning to open a new plant in Georgia with a capacity of around 300,000 vehicles per year, further solidifying its position in the electric vehicle market.
Deliveries of the Rivian R2 have already begun to employees, and customers can expect to receive invitations to configure their vehicles starting in June. With its sleek design, cutting-edge technology, and commitment to customer satisfaction, the Rivian R2 is sure to turn heads on the road. If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on a launch edition of the R2, be prepared to show it off and enjoy the ride.
