Ferrari Unveils Its First Electric Vehicle, the Luce
After months of anticipation, Ferrari has finally given the world a full look at its first electric vehicle, the Luce. This groundbreaking car is not only Ferrari’s inaugural electric model, but it also marks the Italian luxury automaker’s second four-door car and its first five-seater.
The Luce was designed in collaboration with renowned designers Jony Ive and Mark Newson, who worked on the car’s interiors as well. LoveFrom, the design firm founded by Ive and Newson, was given the opportunity to shape the Luce’s overall design aesthetic both inside and out.
According to a report by Tim Stevens for Engadget, the Luce has a unique feel that sets it apart from traditional sports cars, with Stevens likening it more to an SUV. With four motors and an impressive 1,035 horsepower, the Luce is poised for success in the electric vehicle market. Stevens also noted the car’s distinctive sound, which captures and amplifies vibrations from the rear motors, a departure from the synthesized sounds commonly found in other EVs.
While pricing details for the US market have yet to be revealed, the Luce will start at €550,000 in Italy, making it the most expensive Ferrari model to date.
The Luce promises to be a game-changer for Ferrari, blending cutting-edge technology with the brand’s signature luxury and performance. As the automotive industry continues to shift towards electric vehicles, Ferrari’s foray into the EV market with the Luce marks an exciting new chapter for the iconic Italian automaker.
