Hyundai has recently unveiled the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5, the first model to be assembled at their brand-new factory in Georgia. This updated electric crossover comes with some exciting new features and improvements that make it a standout choice in the EV market.
One of the most significant updates to the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the eligibility for a partial $3,750 federal tax credit when purchasing. This makes the new model more affordable for buyers, especially when considering the increased capabilities it offers.
With bigger batteries, the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 can now drive longer distances than the outgoing model. The entry-level SE Rear-Wheel Drive Standard Range model comes with a 63-kilowatt-hour battery and an EPA-estimated driving range of 245 miles on a full charge. This is a significant improvement from the previous model’s range of 220 miles.
Moving up the trim levels, the SE RWD model with the larger 84-kWh battery offers a range of 318 miles, up from 303 miles in the previous model. The all-wheel-drive versions, the SE Dual Motor and SEL Dual Motor, can cover up to 290 miles on a full charge, a 30-mile increase from the outgoing model.
In terms of charging speeds, the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 offers impressive capabilities. The smaller battery model can go from 10% to 80% state of charge in 24 minutes at a Tesla Supercharger, while the larger battery takes 30 minutes. Using a CCS adapter at a 250 kW DC fast charger reduces the time to 20 minutes for both battery sizes.
The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 also comes with a refreshed design, including restyled front and rear bumpers, new wheels, and new exterior colors. Inside, the HVAC controls have been redesigned for better ergonomics, and there are new features like USB Type-C ports and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Overall, the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a compelling option in the EV market, offering improved range, faster charging speeds, and a more affordable price point with the federal tax credit. With deliveries set to begin before the end of the year, this electric crossover is sure to make a splash among eco-conscious car buyers.
