Finland’s Kempower has made waves in the electric vehicle charging industry with the unveiling of their latest innovation – the Mega Flex Satellite. This groundbreaking EV fast charger is unique in that it can simultaneously cater to power-hungry electric big rigs and smaller EVs, making it a versatile and efficient solution for busy logistics hubs.
At the heart of the Mega Flex Satellite is its dual charging capability. Equipped with a megawatt-capable MCS connector and a CCS cable, this charger is designed to accommodate a wide range of electric vehicles, from high-powered trucks to everyday cars. This means that a Tesla Semi and a smaller, shorter-range truck like the Mack MD medium-duty truck can both be charged quickly and efficiently at the same time.
The MCS connector features an 8.86-foot cable that can deliver an impressive 1.2 MW of power, making it ideal for powering up heavy-duty electric vehicles. On the other hand, the CCS side of the charger comes with a 16.4-foot cable and a maximum output of 560 kW, suitable for smaller EVs. It’s important to note that the total power output of the charger is capped at 1.2 MW, so if both connectors are in use simultaneously, the power will be shared between the charging vehicles.
While the Mega Flex Satellite requires a separate power cabinet to operate, unlike Tesla’s all-in-one Basecharger, it boasts a significantly higher power output.
