Tesla Cybertruck Set to Receive ‘Active Noise Cancellation’ Feature Through Software Update
With the recent launch of the highly anticipated $59,990 Cybertruck, Tesla enthusiasts have been buzzing with excitement over the latest details revealed about the electric pickup truck. One particularly intriguing update is the inclusion of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) as a standard feature on the Premium AWD and Cyberbeast trims.
Although ANC is currently disabled on existing Cybertrucks, the presence of this feature on the spec sheet suggests that a forthcoming software update will activate it. Interestingly, the Cybertruck was actually equipped with the necessary hardware for ANC from the factory, as confirmed by a previous analysis of Tesla’s Service Toolbox.
Enhanced Sound Experience
Unlike the Model S and Model X, which utilize six microphones for ANC, the Cybertruck will utilize four microphones to achieve a similar effect. However, fine-tuning ANC for the Cybertruck’s unique acoustics, such as the large glass roof and distinctive aluminum castings, has presented challenges for Tesla’s audio engineers.
Functionality of ANC
Once the anticipated OTA update is released to enable ANC, the system will function akin to noise-cancelling headphones. By monitoring road noise and tire hum through microphones and accelerometers, the ANC system will generate anti-noise to counteract unwanted sounds and create a more serene driving environment.
Exclusive Feature
Active Noise Cancellation will be exclusive to the Premium AWD and Cyberbeast trims, distinguishing them from the base Dual Motor AWD model. Owners of current Cybertrucks can anticipate the activation of ANC in the near future.
