Tesla’s Companion App Tessie Unveils New Full Self-Driving Tracking Features
Tessie, the popular third-party companion app for Tesla owners, has recently released a significant update that provides drivers with deeper insights into their usage of Full Self-Driving technology.
The latest release notes for Tessie, available on the App Store, reveal that the app now supports official FSD (Supervised) usage tracking directly from the vehicle itself. This means that Tessie users can now access detailed, first-party-backed data on how Tesla’s Full Self-Driving system is being utilized during real-world drives.
Version 15.6.9 of Tessie on iOS introduces several new analytics-focused features. Users can now navigate to the ‘Drives’ > ‘Analytics’ section to view trends that showcase how often FSD is engaged over time. Additionally, Tessie has added trip visuals that allow drivers to replay past routes with color-coded indicators indicating when Full Self-Driving was active. For those who prefer raw data, FSD distance is now included in drive exports, making it easier to analyze usage externally.
Developers and power users will also benefit from new API access, which provides access to both real-time and historical Self-Driving statistics. This enhancement builds on Tessie’s reputation for providing deep data access, particularly following the introduction of its Profiler feature earlier this year, which offered OBD-level vehicle data without the need for additional hardware.
However, there are a few requirements for the new tracking features to function properly. Users must have Full Self-Driving version 14 or later and Tesla vehicle firmware version 2025.44.25.5 or newer. Tesla recently introduced a dedicated “Self-Driving Stats” section in its vehicle software with the release of FSD 14.2, which aligns with Tessie’s latest update.
This update from Tessie comes at an interesting time for Tesla owners, as the company continues to expand FSD globally and make significant advancements with version 14. The new tracking features provided by Tessie offer a data-driven perspective on the usability of the system on a day-to-day basis, moving away from estimates or anecdotal impressions.
As one of the most feature-rich Tesla apps available on iOS, Android, and smartwatches, Tessie stands out by providing drivers with the data they want to see. With the inclusion of Self-Driving tracking, the app becomes even more appealing to owners who are looking to understand how autonomy plays a role in their daily driving routine.
