Elon Musk to Speak at Israel’s Smart Transportation Conference in March 2026
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently announced that entrepreneur Elon Musk has accepted an invitation to participate in the country’s Smart Transportation Conference in March 2026. The news was shared by Netanyahu on social media platform X.
A Call and an Invitation
In a post on X, Netanyahu shared that he had a joint conference call with Musk, Minister of Transportation Miri Regev, and Erez Askal, the head of the National AI Headquarters. During the call, Musk agreed to participate in the Smart Transportation Conference and discussed initiatives to promote autonomous vehicle laws and boost AI technologies in Israel.
Netanyahu expressed his excitement about collaborating with Musk and Tesla to advance artificial intelligence technologies in Israel. He emphasized the country’s goal of becoming a global leader in emerging technologies, similar to its achievements in cybersecurity.
Tesla FSD’s Potential Rollout in Israel
Musk’s participation in the upcoming conference has sparked speculation about Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology and Robotaxi service potentially launching in Israel. Reports suggest that FSD is nearing regulatory approval in the country, following advocacy from local Tesla owners and government intervention.
Over 1,000 Tesla drivers in Israel have petitioned for FSD approval, citing its potential to enhance road safety. Minister Regev has responded positively to these requests, indicating that drivers may soon be able to experience autonomous driving without needing to hold the steering wheel.
To expedite the approval process, Minister Regev has instructed the ministry’s Director-General to conduct necessary tests. A dedicated working group led by Moshe Ben-Zaken is working closely with regulatory and safety agencies to ensure compliance with international standards.
