A trio of autonomous driving enthusiasts has achieved a major milestone in their cross-Canada road trip, using Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) software without any human interventions. David Moss, Devin Olsen, and Spencer Scott embarked on their journey from Vancouver with the goal of reaching Halifax solely relying on FSD Supervised version 14.3.3.
Since starting their adventure, the team has covered thousands of kilometers on Canadian highways, recording every moment with a continuous camera feed. Despite facing challenges such as driving through dark roads in the Canadian Shield, unexpected encounters with wildlife, and even encountering an ambulance, the 2025 Model 3 has managed to navigate every situation flawlessly without the need for human intervention.
One particularly challenging scenario occurred during a late-night drive in rural Ontario when the vehicle approached a remote construction zone. The FSD software successfully identified a construction flagger holding a slow sign and safely brought the vehicle to a stop for a second worker holding a stop sign, showcasing the software’s advanced capabilities.
While the journey has garnered significant attention online through a live tracker, the team did encounter a minor issue at a Supercharger station in Winnipeg. The navigation system briefly struggled to locate the chargers inside a mall parking garage, highlighting the need for continuous improvements in the software.
Currently traversing through Ontario, the team is determined to complete their intervention-free journey to the Atlantic coast. Follow their progress as they continue to push boundaries and demonstrate the potential of autonomous driving technology.
