Tesla Cybertruck is set to receive an update that will address a minor but annoying quirk. The current issue with the Cybertruck is that it fails to recognize other Cybertrucks on the road. Instead of displaying a Cybertruck avatar, the infotainment system shows a regular vehicle like a pickup truck on its UI.
This issue has been pointed out by Tesla owners on social media platforms, highlighting the fact that the Cybertruck is one of the most technologically advanced Teslas on the market and should be easily recognizable. CEO Elon Musk had mentioned in the past that Teslas should be able to recognize and render other Teslas on their displays, but this feature has not been implemented yet.
In response to a post from a Cybertruck owner, Tesla Lead Engineer Wes Morrill acknowledged the issue and mentioned that the capability to render other Cybertrucks on the UI is on the list of updates. However, the upcoming update will focus on fixing the way the Cybertruck renders trailers on its display.
Elon Musk had previously promised that Teslas would soon be able to render other Teslas on their displays, including their model and color. He even suggested that this feature could be turned into a fun game. Despite Musk’s assurance that the feature would be available soon back in 2020, its rollout has been delayed, falling victim to what is commonly referred to as “Elon Time.”
With the upcoming update, Tesla Cybertrucks will be able to properly recognize and render trailers on their displays. While the feature to render other Cybertrucks and Teslas specifically as their model and color is still in the works, Tesla owners can look forward to a more accurate representation of vehicles on their infotainment systems in the near future.
