Stellantis, the parent company of 14 American and European car brands, has made a significant move by gaining access to the Tesla Supercharger network in North America. This means that owners of Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Fiat, and Maserati EVs can now charge at more than 27,500 Tesla Supercharger stations, providing them with a convenient and reliable charging option for their electric vehicles.
This development is a major step forward for Stellantis as it aims to provide its customers with a seamless charging experience and alleviate any concerns related to range anxiety. By tapping into North America’s largest and most reliable public fast-charging network, Stellantis is making EV ownership more accessible and convenient for its customers.
The timing of this announcement is significant, especially in light of Stellantis reporting over $22 billion in charges tied to the scaling back of its EV ambitions in its recent earnings report. By offering its customers access to the Tesla Supercharger network, Stellantis is not only enhancing the EV ownership experience but also building goodwill with its EV owners during a crucial time.
To charge at Tesla Superchargers, owners will need a certified NACS-to-CCS adapter, which Stellantis will sell through its dealerships and via Mopar.com for $230. Alternatively, owners can use older Tesla stations equipped with the built-in “Magic Dock” adapter or the newer V4 Superchargers, which come with a CCS adapter integrated directly into the station.
It is recommended for owners to have an adapter on hand, as Tesla’s built-in adapters can wear out over time and may occasionally fail to retract from the dock, especially at high-traffic stations with heavy utilization rates.
The Stellantis EVs that are now able to charge at Tesla Superchargers include the Dodge Charger Daytona, Jeep Wagoneer S, Jeep Recon, Ram ProMaster EV, Fiat 500e, and Maserati models such as the GranTurismo Folgore, GranCabrio Folgore, and Grecale Folgore. While the first-generation Fiat 500e did not make the cut, Stellantis is working on more upgrades and improvements to expand the list of compatible vehicles.
Notably, the upcoming 2027 Dodge Charger Daytona will be the first Stellantis EV to come from the factory with a native NACS port, eliminating the need for an adapter to use Tesla Superchargers. However, it may still require a CCS-to-NACS adapter for charging at CCS-only stations.
Overall, gaining access to the Tesla Supercharger network is a significant milestone for Stellantis and its EV customers. It represents a step forward in enhancing the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles and making EV ownership more convenient and accessible for a wider range of customers.
