Guide to Choosing and Replacing Tesla Windshield Wipers
Teslas are known for their low-maintenance nature, but certain parts like windshield wipers still need replacing. Here’s how to choose the right wipers, access Wiper Service Mode, and replace them.
Signs to Replace Blades
Look out for streaking, smearing, skipping, squeaking, or visible damage on your wiper blades. Tesla recommends replacing them annually, but they often last longer depending on climate and usage.
Windshield Wiper Sizes by Model
Refer to the table below for correct wiper sizes for different Tesla models.

Recommended Wipers
We suggest Bosch ICON wipers for their performance. Get them from Amazon for around $30. See specific links for different Tesla models.
Third-Party Wiper Adapters
Check compatibility with Tesla’s Bosch-style wiper arm tabs. Opt for Tesla’s OEM Bosch wipers for ease of installation.
Wiper Service Mode
Enable Wiper Service Mode for safe wiper replacement. Turn it off after replacing wipers and update maintenance summary in Tesla’s system.
Replacing the Wipers
- Place a soft cloth on the windshield.
- Lift the wiper arm slightly.
- Release the blade by pressing the locking tab.
- Slide off the old blade and install the new one.
- Ensure the new blade is securely in place.
- Repeat for the other side.
- Exit Wiper Service Mode and test the wipers.
Cybertruck
For Cybertruck wiper replacement, refer to the owner’s manual for detailed instructions.
Replacing Wiper Blades on the Cybertruck
If you need to replace the wiper blades on your Cybertruck, you’ll need to follow a slightly different procedure than with traditional vehicles. The washer hose barb will need to be removed and reinstalled with the Cybertruck’s replacement wiper blade. However, the rest of the process is similar, except the arm does not lock upwards.
At the time of writing, there are no third-party wiper replacements available for the Cybertruck. You will need to purchase them from the Tesla store. Fortunately, most service locations will have them in stock and can assist with the replacement if needed. It’s worth noting that Tesla Service may offer a goodwill wiper swap if you purchase one on-site.
