The United States is on the brink of a major transformation in the electric vehicle (EV) industry with the opening of ten new battery plants this year. These plants will not only boost the EV market in the country but also reduce dependence on China for battery supply chains. Leading the charge are battery giants like LG Energy Solution, SK On, and Panasonic, who are spearheading this effort to revolutionize the infrastructure needed for the growth of the EV industry. However, the future of these plants and their impact on automakers’ EV sales hinges on the policies of the current…

Out Of Spec recently conducted testing on a high-mileage Tesla Model S, and the results are quite eye-opening. The 2019 Tesla Model S standard range with 250,000 miles on the odometer was put through a full 0-100% charging test, and the results were not as promising as one might hope. The test revealed that it took a staggering 2 hours and 41 minutes to go from fully flat to fully charged. This long charging time can be attributed to the fact that the car’s Battery Management System was off, necessitating a recalibration and cell balancing process. As batteries degrade over…
Rivian Recalls 2025 Electric Vehicles Due to Headlight Issue Rivian is recalling 17,260 electric vehicles from model year 2025—including both the R1T pickup truck and R1S SUV—because their headlight low beams may fail to illuminate when the vehicles are started in cold weather. The Chevrolet Equinox EV is a popular electric vehicle that offers great value for money. However, one of the major drawbacks of this vehicle is its slow charging times. Despite being marketed as having a high-voltage battery pack, the Equinox EV’s battery voltage never goes over 400 V, even when fully charged. This limitation results in longer charging times than expected for a modern EV. To test the charging capabilities of the Equinox EV, charging expert Tom Moloughney decided to try out three different fast chargers: a 150 kW Electrify America stall, a 250 kW Tesla Supercharger, and a 350…
