Following a historic winter storm that left thousands of Tennessee residents without power, Elon Musk has stepped in to donate hundreds of generators to those in need. Governor Bill Lee provided an update on the situation, highlighting the dire circumstances faced by many households still enduring freezing temperatures without electricity.
Generous Donation
According to a report from WSMV4, the winter storm that hit Tennessee at the end of January resulted in widespread power outages affecting hundreds of thousands of residents. Many have been without power or heat for up to nine days, leading to a critical situation. In response, Elon Musk and xAI have donated hundreds of generators to assist those in affected areas.
Gov. Bill Lee expressed his gratitude on X, stating, “Tennesseans without power need immediate help. I’m deeply grateful to @elonmusk & @xAI for going above & beyond to support Tennesseans by donating hundreds of generators. I value their continued partnership to solve problems & support communities across our state.”
Recovery efforts are ongoing as crews work to restore power and address storm damage. The generators provided by Musk are expected to offer temporary relief to residents facing power outages in freezing conditions.
Potential Tesla Powerwalls Support
In response to the governor’s post, Elon Musk hinted at additional support possibly coming from Tesla in the form of Tesla Powerwalls. Musk tweeted, “You’re most welcome. We’re working on providing Tesla Powerwalls too,” indicating that further assistance may be on the way.
Prior to Musk’s comment, Tesla had already extended help to affected customers in Mississippi and Tennessee. The official Tesla Charging account announced on X that all Superchargers in the two states are operational, with free Supercharging enabled to aid those in areas experiencing persistent power outages. Affected locations include Grenada, Tupelo, Corinth, Southhaven, Horn Lake in Mississippi, and several Supercharging sites in Memphis, Tennessee.
