Tesla is making significant strides in its entry into the Indian market, with the recent opening of its first Supercharger site in the country. Located at One BKC in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, this charging station features four V4 Superchargers for fast DC charging and four AC destination chargers. This is just the beginning, as Tesla has plans to open several more charging sites in Mumbai, including locations in Thane, Lower Parel, and Navi Mumbai. By the end of the September quarter, the city is expected to have a total of 16 Superchargers spread across four different locations.
Next on Tesla’s roadmap is Delhi, where the company will be opening its second Indian “Experience Center” on August 11. This new store will be strategically located in a high-traffic area, following the successful opening of Tesla’s 4,000-square-foot showroom in Mumbai last month. In preparation for the launch in Delhi, four charging locations are being set up in Aerocity, Saket, Golf Course Road, and Noida.
Tesla is gearing up to start delivering the Model Y in India as early as Q3 2025, with the initial focus on the 500 km-range variant. A longer-range model with a range of 622 km is expected to follow in Q4. The first wave of deliveries will target key cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurgaon.
The journey towards Tesla’s debut in India has been a long time coming, and the recent rollout of Superchargers and showrooms signifies a significant milestone for the company in one of the world’s fastest-growing EV markets. This move not only showcases Tesla’s commitment to sustainable transportation but also paves the way for a greener future in India.
