Tesla is making significant progress on its dedicated Semi truck factory in Nevada, with a recent update showcasing the completion of the stamping shop and the installation of tools in the Powder Coat and Material Conveyance shops. The official Tesla Semi account on X shared a video clip highlighting the new tooling and ongoing buildout inside the factory.
This update comes after an initial look inside the Semi factory back in April, where Tesla revealed early structural work at the site. Situated near the existing Gigafactory Nevada complex, the new facility is being constructed to support the full-scale production of the Tesla Semi, with a capacity of up to 50,000 units per year once fully operational.
The Tesla Semi is an all-electric Class 8 truck designed to replace diesel rigs without compromising on performance. Tesla touts the Semi as not only more energy-efficient but also offering better torque and lower operating costs compared to traditional heavy-duty trucks. Recently, logistics company ArcBest completed a pilot with the Semi, praising its real-world performance and reliability. PepsiCo, a longtime Tesla partner, has also been testing the vehicle for its fleet over the past few years.
As production tooling is now being installed, Tesla is inching closer to ramping up one of its most highly anticipated commercial vehicles. The Semi was first unveiled in 2017 and began limited deliveries in 2022. With anticipation building for a broader rollout, the update on the factory’s progress signals that Tesla is making strides towards mass production of the Semi.
Keep an eye out for further updates as we monitor the continued progress on the construction of the Tesla Semi factory.
