The “Tesla Takedown” movement is gearing up for its “biggest day of action” yet, with plans to hold demonstrations at over 277 Tesla stores and Supercharger stations across the globe. This mass call to action was organized by a coalition of individuals including filmmakers, members of Congress, and other key figures, as reported by The Verge.
The movement against Tesla and its CEO, Elon Musk, stems from criticism of Musk’s political affiliations, particularly his close ties to former U.S. President Donald Trump and his involvement with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Critics argue that Musk’s significant wealth, which is largely tied to his Tesla holdings, gives him undue influence in political circles.
Unfortunately, protests against Tesla and Musk have taken a violent turn in recent times. Incidents of Tesla stores being shot at, vehicles being set on fire, and Supercharger stations being targeted in arson attacks have been reported. Even Tesla owners have fallen victim to vandalism and arson directed at their vehicles.
In response to these attacks, both Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi have labeled the perpetrators as domestic terrorists. Bondi has vowed to prosecute those responsible for the arson and vandalism against Tesla properties to the fullest extent of the law.
The Tesla Takedown movement, however, insists that there is no conspiracy behind their actions. Actor and filmmaker Alex Winter, a vocal supporter of the movement, emphasized that their goal is simply to hold Elon Musk accountable for his actions. The movement is planning over 500 events worldwide on March 29, with demonstrations expected at 277 Tesla stores and Supercharger stations.
Executive director of Planet Over Profit, Alice Hu, underscored the importance of exercising First Amendment rights in the face of intimidation from Musk and his allies. She encouraged protesters to stand up against what she described as “wannabe authoritarians” attempting to suppress dissent.
Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett echoed the call for action, emphasizing the importance of fighting for democracy and freedom. She made it clear that while the fight should be fierce, it must remain nonviolent. Interestingly, Crockett revealed that March 29 is her birthday, expressing her wish to see Elon Musk “taken down” on that day.
As the Tesla Takedown movement prepares for its largest demonstration yet, the message is clear: accountability and protest are essential tools in safeguarding democracy and holding powerful individuals like Elon Musk to account for their actions.
