Lucid recently hinted at the design of its upcoming midsize SUV and provided a timeline for production. During the company’s earnings call, interim CEO Marc Winterhoff revealed that the midsize vehicle will be unveiled either late this year or early next year.
In September, Lucid teased an image of the midsize SUV on Twitter, announcing that production is scheduled for late 2026 with a price tag of less than $50,000.
Winterhoff confirmed that the advanced engineering phase of the midsize variants has been approved, and the team is now progressing to the development and industrialization phases.
The crossover SUV is expected to feature cutting-edge technology and efficiency, with a range comparable to competitors but utilizing a smaller battery.
The vehicle will incorporate Lucid’s new cost-effective drive unit named “Atlas,” currently under development.
There are speculations that the electric midsize SUV may be named Earth, as Lucid filed a trademark for the name in January.
The teaser image released in September showcased a crossover SUV with a sleek design reminiscent of the larger Gravity SUV but in a compact size similar to the Tesla Model Y. The vehicle’s front end shares design elements with the Air and Gravity models, featuring horizontal headlights and full-width chrome trim with “LUCID” branding.
Reports suggest that the midsize crossover is one of three affordable EVs that Lucid is working on. Design boss Derek Jenkins mentioned that these vehicles will prioritize efficiency and aerodynamics, being compact and lighter than the Air model.
Delivery of Lucid’s Gravity SUV commenced in December, marking the arrival of the automaker’s second vehicle.
