Tesla has once again started offering free trials of its Full Self-Driving (Supervised) software, with the latest trial period kicking off on February 12. A number of Tesla owners have reported receiving emails from the company, informing them of complimentary access to the driver-assist system.
One such recipient, Tesla owner Aaron Crews, shared on social media a snippet of the email he received, which read: “Your Full Self-Driving (Supervised) trial starts now! You’ve been granted a complimentary trial of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) for your Model Y.” This trial version of FSD (Supervised) still requires driver supervision, but allows the vehicle to autonomously navigate roads, make lane changes, and follow designated routes. However, human oversight remains a crucial component of the system.
The current iteration of FSD is version 13.2.7, included in the latest software update 2024.45.32.15. Tesla has been known to offer limited-time trials of its Full Self-Driving software in the past as a means to encourage more owners to opt for the paid version, which is priced at $8,000 USD or available on a subscription basis for $99 USD per month.
The company’s strategy of offering free trials has been successful in generating interest and increasing adoption rates of the Full Self-Driving software among Tesla owners. By giving users a taste of the capabilities of the system, Tesla aims to showcase the potential benefits of upgrading to the full version of FSD.
If you are a Tesla owner, it’s worth checking your inbox to see if you have been selected to participate in the latest round of FSD trials. Keep an eye out for an email notification from Tesla, and take advantage of the opportunity to experience the cutting-edge technology firsthand.
