Renault, a renowned French automaker, is making waves in the electric vehicle industry with its innovative designs. Following the success of models like the Renault 5 and Renault 4, the company has now unveiled the impressive Renault Filante Record 2025 single-seater demo car.
The Filante Record 2025 is not just a stylish vehicle; it was specifically built to set new efficiency records for electric vehicles. With an 87-kilowatt-hour battery pack and a remarkably light weight of just 2,204 pounds, this car is a true marvel of engineering. The battery pack, utilizing cell-to-pack technology to reduce volume and weight, accounts for 1,322 pounds, leaving only 882 pounds for the rest of the vehicle’s components.
The construction of the Filante Record 2025 incorporates carbon fiber and 3D-printed aluminum to minimize material waste and ensure precision in complex parts. The custom-made 19-inch tires from Michelin boast a rolling resistance that is 40% lower than traditional car tires, contributing to the vehicle’s impressive efficiency.
Inside the Filante Record 2025, a single lightweight seat is positioned over the battery pack, and the driver interacts with a unique steering wheel that features a flexible panoramic screen for essential information display. The car also utilizes steer-by-wire technology for steering and brake-by-wire system for braking, eliminating the need for physical connections.
While Renault has not disclosed detailed information about the powertrain of the Filante Record 2025, the lightweight design and aerodynamic body suggest that even a low-powered motor could achieve high speeds. The demo car is set to be showcased at the Retromobile Motor Show in Paris before undergoing wind tunnel testing and aiming to break efficiency records in the first half of the year.
Currently, the efficiency record for electric vehicles is held by a team of students from the Technical University of Munich in Germany. Their experimental single-seater EV achieved an impressive energy consumption of 103 miles/kWh, driving over 1,500 miles on a 15.5 kilowatt-hour battery pack.
Renault’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of efficiency and design in electric vehicles is evident in the innovative Filante Record 2025. With its futuristic features and focus on sustainability, this demo car represents a new era in the automotive industry.
