Lucid Motors has been working hard to turn its fortunes around after a challenging year in 2024. The company, known for its Air sedan, has recently announced the production of its new Gravity three-row crossover EV. The first few units of the Gravity have already rolled off the assembly line and are being delivered to friends, family, and employees of Lucid.
CEO Peter Rawlinson has emphasized that production of the Gravity is being ramped up gradually to ensure high-quality standards for customers. The initial batch of Gravity crossovers is being produced in Grand Touring trim, featuring a dual motor, 828 horsepower setup powered by a 120-kWh battery. The Touring trim, with a lower price point of $79,900, is expected to go on sale later in 2025.
Despite the slow rollout, the Gravity is seen as a potential game-changer for Lucid. With a price tag of nearly $95,000, the Gravity is on par with other luxury EV three-row vehicles like the Cadillac Vistiq and the Rivian R1S. The company is banking on the Gravity to boost sales and profitability, following efforts to lower the price and enhance the efficiency of the Air sedan.
The Gravity’s arrival comes at a time when EV buyers are increasingly interested in three-row vehicles, making it a strategic move for Lucid. The company is also planning to expand into new markets in 2025, further solidifying its position in the EV industry.
Overall, the launch of the Lucid Gravity marks a significant milestone for the company as it looks to bounce back from a challenging year. With a focus on quality production and a competitive pricing strategy, Lucid is poised to make a strong impact in the EV market in the coming years.
