When you think of three-row SUVs, performance might not be the first thing that comes to mind. However, Kia is changing that perception with the introduction of the all-electric EV9 GT.
Unveiled at the 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show, the 2026 Kia EV9 GT is set to redefine the electric SUV landscape. With a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain producing an impressive 501 hp, the EV9 GT promises a thrilling driving experience. Kia estimates a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 4.3 seconds, making it a formidable contender in the performance SUV market.
In addition to its powerful performance, the EV9 GT boasts innovative features such as virtual shifting, which simulates the experience of shifting gears in a traditional combustion car. The GT models also come equipped with Continental performance tires, upgraded brakes, an electronic limited-slip differential, and adaptive suspension for enhanced handling and control.
Visually, the EV9 GT sets itself apart with new 21-inch wheels, green brake calipers, and unique interior accents. The cabin features sporty touches like robustly bolstered seats with Alcantara inserts, a specially designed steering wheel, and customizable ambient lighting.
Expected to hit the U.S. market in the second half of 2025, the EV9 GT will feature a standard North American Charging Standard (NACS) port for convenient access to charging networks. While pricing details have yet to be announced, the GT model is expected to surpass the current range-topping GT-Line, which starts at $75,225 for the 2025 model year.
Despite being assembled in South Korea, the EV9 GT promises to deliver a top-tier driving experience that will impress even the most discerning performance car enthusiasts. Stay tuned for more updates on this groundbreaking electric SUV from Kia.
