Audi has recently unveiled the updated E-Tron GT sedan, which comes with a host of upgrades that make it the most powerful Audi ever. The new model is now available for order in the U.S., with a starting price of $125,500 for the base S model. This represents a significant increase of almost $20,000 compared to the previous version. However, the extra cost is justified by the substantial power boost that the new model offers.
The base S E-Tron GT now boasts 637 horsepower, a significant increase from the previous 523 hp. This power increase translates into improved performance, with the acceleration time from 0 to 60 mph dropping to just 3.3 seconds. The top-of-the-line RS E-Tron GT, on the other hand, is the most powerful and quickest-accelerating production Audi ever, with a combined output of 912 horsepower and a sprint time of just 2.4 seconds. The Performance model of the RS variant is priced at $167,000 in the U.S.
Both variants of the E-Tron GT now feature a larger battery pack, with a capacity of 105 kWh (97 kWh usable). This increase in battery capacity has boosted the EPA range to 300 miles for both models when equipped with the standard 20-inch wheels. The charging capability has also been improved, with a peak charging power of 320 kW, allowing for a 10 to 80% fast charge in just 18 minutes under ideal conditions.
In terms of driving dynamics, Audi has made several enhancements to the E-Tron GT, including tweaks to the steering for a more direct feel and a new air suspension setup that improves comfort without sacrificing sportiness. The new suspension required special training for factory workers who assemble the car.
Overall, the upgrades to the Audi E-Tron GT have made it a more compelling option in the electric sports sedan segment. The combination of increased power, improved range, and quicker charging times should attract more interest from potential buyers.
