Hyundai recently unveiled the first teaser for the highly anticipated Ioniq 9, a three-row electric SUV set to be revealed in November.
From the teaser images, it is evident that the Ioniq 9 will feature the classic SUV profile with a sleek, aerodynamic raked-back roofline. It will be built on the same cutting-edge E-GMP platform used for the current Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 models.

The Ioniq 9 has been highly anticipated since its announcement alongside the Ioniq EV sub-brand in 2020. It was further previewed with the Hyundai Seven concept at the 2021 Los Angeles auto show, indicating that its official debut may also take place in L.A.
Earlier this year, Hyundai confirmed the arrival of an electric three-row SUV as a 2025 model, now officially named the Ioniq 9. This naming aligns Hyundai with its sister brands Kia and Genesis, which also offer similar EV models.

The Ioniq 9 is expected to share some specifications with the Kia EV9, recognized as the Green Car Reports Best Car To Buy 2024. Additionally, Genesis, Hyundai’s luxury brand, will introduce its own super-large GV90 electric SUV, likely in 2026, inspired by the Genesis Neolun concept.
Production details for the Ioniq 9 remain uncertain, as the GV90 is rumored to be manufactured in South Korea, while EV9 production for the U.S. has been shifted to Kia’s West Point, Georgia plant. Hyundai’s Georgia EV “Metaplant” is set to produce the 2025 Ioniq 5 models, but adjustments will need to be made for the Ioniq 9 to be eligible for tax credits.
