Tesla has officially opened orders for the Model Y in Estonia, a move that signals the electric vehicle maker’s commitment to expanding its presence in the Baltic region. This announcement, made by Tesla Europe, Middle East & Africa, allows local customers in Estonia to configure and purchase the popular compact SUV directly through the company’s official website.
Prior to this development, Estonian customers had to navigate third-party imports or silver-market channels to acquire Tesla vehicles. With the formal entry into the market, Tesla aims to streamline logistics and service for Estonian customers, ensuring they have access to official support and regional infrastructure.
Despite the lack of an official retail or service presence until now, Tesla has already established a strong foothold in the Estonian electric vehicle market. Data shows that the Model 3 is currently the most-registered electric vehicle in Estonia, with over 1,030 units on the road. The Model Y closely follows with more than 720 registrations.
Estonia is known for being a tech-forward nation with a high adoption rate for EVs, making it a logical choice for Tesla’s European expansion. Prior to the official launch, Estonian Tesla owners often relied on neighboring countries like Finland or Lithuania for major service needs.
The introduction of official ordering for the Model Y is expected to be followed by the opening of dedicated service centers and a more robust Supercharger network within Estonia. This move demonstrates Tesla’s commitment to treating the Baltic states as a unified market, providing local drivers with the same level of brand integration found in larger European markets.
Overall, Tesla’s entry into the Estonian market is a significant milestone that will not only benefit local customers but also contribute to the growth of the electric vehicle industry in the region.
