The latest update includes a dedicated “Tips” section designed to guide passengers through the autonomous ride experience. This section offers valuable insights such as vehicle identification, where riders are informed that the vehicle’s lights will pulse upon arrival as a visual confirmation for boarding. Additionally, passengers can now see the exact seating capacity of the assigned vehicle, typically accommodating up to four passengers, before it arrives. Tesla has also clarified the pickup window, indicating that a Robotaxi will wait for up to 7 minutes before automatically departing to its next destination.
In terms of safety and privacy enhancements, the update introduces a notice regarding the use of interior cabin cameras. Tesla states that these cameras may be utilized to ensure passenger safety during the ride and to verify the vehicle’s readiness for the next trip, such as checking for lost items or ensuring the cabin is clean post-ride. The app also explicitly advises passengers not to sit in the driver’s seat and to wait for the light pulse before attempting to enter the vehicle.
