Tesla’s Supercharger network has once again demonstrated its dominance in the electric vehicle charging infrastructure space, with record-breaking statistics for the first quarter of 2026. In Q1 alone, Tesla opened 2,500 new Supercharger stalls, marking a substantial 19% year-over-year growth in the network’s footprint.
The utilization of the network is outpacing the hardware expansion, with Tesla delivering a staggering 1.8 TWh of energy to drivers in the first quarter, a 22% increase from the same period last year. This increase in energy delivery equates to approximately 823 million liters of gasoline saved and 3.4 billion kilograms of CO2 emissions avoided, emphasizing the network’s vital role in Sweden’s and the global energy transition.
The rapid expansion of the Supercharger network is attributed to a meticulous deployment strategy. Over the past year, Tesla’s charging team has interconnected 1.4 GW of capacity across more than 450 unique utilities worldwide. This coordinated effort has enabled the network to facilitate 53 million charging sessions in Q1, a significant 26% year-over-year increase.
In addition to the technical achievements, Tesla has also focused on enhancing the human experience of charging. The company reported a 100% increase in Brain Charge, with 9,800 Tesla milkshakes served at branded locations during the quarter. This growth in lifestyle charging amenities aligns with the rollout of Tesla’s V4 Supercharger posts, featuring longer cables and integrated payment terminals to cater to a wider range of electric vehicles.
As Tesla continues to expand its charging infrastructure, the company is reaffirming its position as the most cost-effective and reliable charging network in the market. With a pace of growth that few competitors can match, Tesla is setting the standard for electric vehicle charging infrastructure worldwide.
Earlier today, Tesla also announced its production and delivery numbers for Q1, showing positive momentum compared to the previous year. The company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability is evident in its Supercharger network expansion, solidifying its position as a leader in the electric vehicle industry.
