The 2025 Volvo EX90 Electric SUV Recall
The 2025 Volvo EX90 electric SUV is currently undergoing its first recall, affecting a small number of vehicles due to a software issue that could impact headlight operation.
Volvo is recalling 2,061 2025 EX90 SUVs because of a software glitch that may impair headlight functionality, potentially reducing visibility and increasing the risk of accidents.

The issue stems from incorrect software that may trigger a “reference run” signal to the headlights while driving, causing the shutters to close over the low beam or high beam elements, according to the NHTSA.
If this erroneous signal occurs, drivers may receive a dashboard message and experience reduced illumination of the road ahead.

Volvo has already addressed the issue for most vehicles manufactured before Jan. 31, 2025, by providing an over-the-air (OTA) software update starting Feb. 11. Owners can also opt for a free update at a dealership.
Affected owners will receive notification by mail from Apr. 3 and can contact Volvo’s customer service at 800-458-1552 for further assistance, referencing recall number R10298.
Despite these challenges, the 2025 Volvo EX90 remains a pioneering software-defined vehicle, with ongoing efforts to enhance its features and performance.
