Tesla Android App – Key Features Android Users Are Waiting For
It has been noted that Tesla tends to release app updates for iOS and Android simultaneously, however, there is a noticeable delay in implementing features on the Android version. This delay has left Android users missing out on some essential features that are already available on the Apple version.
Delayed App Updates
The most recent update for the Android app, version 4.36.6, was only rolled out last night, whereas the iOS update was made available on September 1st. This delay in updates means that Android users may have to wait longer to access new features like the updated Smart Summon.
It is important for Tesla to address this issue and ensure that Android users receive updates in a timely manner. Coordinating the release of app updates for both platforms could help bridge this gap.
Ultra Wideband Support
One major feature missing on the Android app is Ultra Wide Band (UWB) support. This omission is significant as UWB is a useful feature that many Android devices already support. Without UWB support, Android users are unable to utilize Tesla’s latest phone key, which offers improved reliability for unlocking the vehicle.
Hands-Free Trunk
Another feature that Android users are eagerly awaiting is the hands-free trunk feature. This feature, which allows users to open the trunk by simply standing behind it, is currently only available on iOS devices. Tesla had initially promised to bring this feature to Android in May 2024, but it has yet to be implemented.
These are the key features that Android users are currently missing out on, and it is hoped that Tesla will prioritize bringing UWB support and simultaneous app updates to both the Google Play and Apple App Store.
