United Airlines recently made updates to its “Contract of Carriage” that now includes a requirement for passengers to wear headphones while listening to audio and video content during flights, as reported by CBS News.
The revised contract allows United to deny transport, either permanently or temporarily, to passengers who fail to adhere to a set of rules, which now includes the mandate to use headphones when listening to audio. Furthermore, the policy stipulates that United has the authority to remove these non-compliant passengers from the aircraft at any given point.
Stella Balaskas, a spokesperson for United, confirmed to The Verge that the policy was officially updated on February 27th. Balaskas emphasized that the airline has always encouraged customers to use headphones when consuming audio content, and the expansion of Starlink to United flights last year provided an opportune moment to reinforce this requirement by incorporating it into the contract of carriage.
United’s website indicates that passengers who do not have headphones can request a complimentary pair of earbuds, subject to availability.
These changes aim to enhance the in-flight experience for all passengers and ensure a more pleasant journey for everyone on board. United Airlines continues to prioritize customer comfort and satisfaction through these updates to their policies.
