Alpine has given us a glimpse of their upcoming A390 electric crossover prototype, set to be unveiled on May 27th. This highly anticipated vehicle is built on the same platform as the Nissan Ariya but with an additional electric motor for increased power and control. The A390 will be the first of a series of electric vehicles from Alpine, including a four-seat sports car and an electric successor to the A110, all of which may potentially make their way to the American market.
The camouflaged prototype of the Alpine A390 was recently spotted undergoing winter testing in Lapland, hinting at a sleek and sporty design. The A390 is slightly smaller than the Porsche Macan EV but promises to offer a unique driving experience with its “sport fastback” design. Despite the camouflage, key details like the headlights and front aero element are visible, showcasing the car’s aggressive styling.
While the interior of the A390 has not been fully revealed, Alpine has shared a glimpse of the steering wheel, hinting at a high-performance and exclusive cabin design. The A390 will feature a tri-motor, all-wheel drive configuration with torque vectoring capabilities for precise handling in various driving conditions. With five different drive modes, including one for sliding on loose surfaces, the A390 promises a dynamic driving experience.
Built on the AmpR Medium platform, the A390 shares its underpinnings with the Nissan Ariya and Renault E-Tech EVs, but stands out with its three-motor setup for added power. The A390 is expected to offer a total output of around 644 horsepower, rivaling the Porsche Macan Turbo in terms of performance. The electric crossover may also share its battery with the Nissan Ariya, providing a range of over 300 miles on a single charge.
In addition to the A390, Alpine has plans to introduce a four-seat sports car based on the same platform and an electric successor to the A110. These models could potentially make their way to the U.S. market as part of Alpine’s global expansion strategy. The A290, on the other hand, will remain a European-exclusive model.
With the upcoming launch of the Alpine A390 and its electric vehicle lineup, the brand is poised to make a significant impact in the competitive crossover market. The combination of performance, technology, and design in the A390 sets the stage for Alpine’s future in the electric vehicle segment. Stay tuned for the official unveiling of the A390 on May 27th to see Alpine’s vision for the future of electrified driving.
