The 2026 Tesla Model Y Performance has officially made its way to the United States, following its debut in Europe and just before the $7,500 federal tax credit expired. Priced at $59,130, including destination and mandatory order fees, the Performance variant is $8,500 more expensive than the Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive and $2,500 more than the Model 3 Performance.
Customers can expect an EPA-estimated driving range of 306 miles, a top speed of 155 miles per hour, and a zero to 60 miles per hour acceleration in just 3.3 seconds. Compared to its predecessor, the new Model Y Performance offers 29 more miles of range and is 0.2 seconds quicker in the 60 mph sprint.
In terms of design, the refreshed Model Y Performance features a body kit with new front and rear facias, as well as a carbon spoiler at the rear for increased downforce and reduced drag. The crossover also benefits from high-density battery cells, enhancing its charge capacity. However, it is the slowest-charging Model Y variant, with up to 144 miles of range added from a 250-kilowatt Supercharger.
Inside, the 2026 Model Y Performance boasts a larger 16-inch central touchscreen (compared to 15.4 inches in other versions) and an 8-inch touchscreen for rear passengers. The driver and front passenger enjoy heated and ventilated sport seats with added bolstering and side cushions, while rear passengers get perforated seats with heating and power recline.
Under the hood, the Model Y Performance is equipped with an adaptive damping system that adjusts handling and suspension for a smoother ride. This system works in conjunction with new driving modes, distinguishing it from the Long Range versions that feature frequency-selective dampers without selectable modes.
Currently, the 2026 Tesla Model Y Performance can only be purchased with cash in the United States, as Lease and Finance options are not yet available on Tesla’s website for this model. However, it is expected that financing options will become available in the future. For now, cash remains the primary payment method for acquiring this high-performance crossover.
