The Ford Bronco is making a splash in China with the unveiling of the Bronco EV and EREV models, set to be available exclusively in the Chinese market. Produced by Ford’s joint venture partner, Jiangling Motors (JMC), these vehicles are set to offer electric and extended-range electric options for consumers.
The design of the China-market Bronco combines elements of the Bronco Sport and full-sized Bronco, creating a sleek and crossover-like appearance. The vehicle features a side-swinging tailgate similar to the standard Bronco, adding a touch of ruggedness to its overall design.
In terms of specifications, the EREV model will be equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo engine and a 43.7 kWh battery, providing 136 miles of full EV driving range. On the other hand, the EV model will come with a larger 105.4 kWh battery, offering an impressive 403 miles of range on a single charge.
Despite its promising features, the Bronco EV and EREV models will remain exclusive to the Chinese market, where they will compete with a range of domestic SUVs from brands like Fangchengbao (BYD), Jetour (Chery), and Li Auto. These competitors offer similar styling and potentially lower prices, posing a challenge for Ford’s entry into the Chinese EV market.
The Bronco EV and EREV models are expected to go on sale in China later this year, giving consumers a new electric SUV option to consider. While it’s unfortunate that these vehicles won’t be available globally, their success in China could pave the way for future electric offerings from Ford. Stay tuned for more updates on the Bronco’s performance in the Chinese market.
