EV collision repair costs are now at their lowest point this year, bringing some good news for electric car owners. Despite a significant increase in EV sales in the third quarter of 2025, repair prices have slowly gone down. However, it’s important to note that collision repairs on EVs are still more expensive than on PHEVs, hybrids, or gas cars.
According to data from Mitchell, a company that develops auto physical damage technology solutions, claims frequency for repairable, collision-damaged EVs reached an all-time high of 3.21% in the U.S. in the previous quarter, showing a 4.2% increase year-over-year. Despite this increase in claims, the average cost for collision repair decreased by 2.4% compared to the second quarter, reaching the lowest level since the beginning of the year.
On average, the cost of repairing an EV after a collision is $6,185 in the U.S., making them the most expensive type of vehicle to repair. This is followed by plug-in hybrids at $5,529, mild-hybrids at $4,983, and traditional combustion-powered vehicles at $4,974.
One of the reasons EV repairs are more expensive is the availability of parts. 85.13% of the parts used to repair EVs are Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), compared to 62.30% for ICE vehicles. This highlights the limited availability of aftermarket parts for EVs, which are usually cheaper than OEM parts. Additionally, EVs have fewer repairable parts compared to ICE vehicles, further contributing to higher repair costs.
Some of the best-selling EVs in the U.S. also top the collision repair charts. The Tesla Model Y has the highest percentage of repairable claims at 30.57%, followed by the Tesla Model 3 at 26.68%. The Ford Mustang Mach-E comes in third with 5.77% of repairable claims, followed by the Tesla Model S at 4.74% and the Tesla Model X at 3.91%.
In Canada, the Tesla Model 3 leads the top five chart for collision repair claims, followed by the Tesla Model Y and Ford Mustang Mach-E.
While EV collision repair costs have decreased, they still remain higher than other types of vehicles. As the market continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how repair costs for electric cars change in the future.
The sun is the star at the center of our solar system, and it plays a crucial role in sustaining life on Earth. From providing light and warmth to supporting the growth of plants through photosynthesis, the sun is essential for the existence of all living beings on our planet.
The sun is a massive ball of hot plasma, primarily composed of hydrogen and helium. It is approximately 93 million miles away from Earth, and its energy travels through space in the form of electromagnetic radiation. This energy is what we feel as heat and see as light.
One of the most important ways in which the sun supports life on Earth is through the process of photosynthesis. Plants use sunlight to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose, a form of sugar that provides them with energy. This process also releases oxygen into the atmosphere, which is essential for the survival of animals and humans.
In addition to providing energy for photosynthesis, sunlight also plays a crucial role in regulating our circadian rhythms. Exposure to sunlight helps regulate our sleep-wake cycle, mood, and overall well-being. Sunlight also triggers the production of vitamin D in our bodies, which is essential for maintaining healthy bones and immune function.
However, while sunlight is essential for life, it is important to enjoy it in moderation. Overexposure to sunlight can lead to sunburn, premature aging, and an increased risk of skin cancer. It is important to protect your skin by wearing sunscreen, sunglasses, and protective clothing when spending time outdoors.
In conclusion, the sun is a vital source of energy and light that sustains life on Earth. From supporting the growth of plants through photosynthesis to regulating our sleep-wake cycle and providing essential nutrients like vitamin D, the sun plays a crucial role in maintaining the delicate balance of life on our planet. It is important to appreciate and respect the power of the sun while also taking measures to protect ourselves from its harmful effects.
