Tesla Supercharger Network Sees Significant Growth in Q1 2025 With 2,200 New Stalls
Tesla’s Supercharger network continues to expand, showcasing impressive growth in the first quarter of 2025 despite challenges such as site closures on the NJ Turnpike and layoffs within the Supercharger team in 2024.
Tesla recently shared data on the expansion of its Supercharger network, highlighting the efforts to meet the increasing demand from Tesla and non-Tesla vehicles.
Q1 2025 Highlights
In the first quarter of 2025, Tesla added approximately 2,200 new Supercharger stalls globally, marking a 17% year-over-year growth. This expansion is significant, especially as Tesla works on upgrading older V2 stalls to V4 stalls.
During this period, Tesla provided 1.4 TWh of energy to vehicles, reflecting a 26% year-over-year growth. The Supercharger network saw 42 million charging sessions in Q1 2025, a 27% annual increase, solidifying Tesla’s position as the leading EV charging provider.
The energy delivered by Tesla’s Superchargers saved approximately 173 million gallons of gasoline, offsetting 1.5 billion kilograms of CO2. While this may seem small compared to total emissions, it still makes a significant impact in reducing carbon footprint.
Future Developments
With a promising start to the year, Tesla is expected to maintain strong growth in Q2 and beyond in 2025. The company’s consistent pace of opening over 2,000 stalls per quarter indicates more accessibility, faster charging, and increased range for users worldwide.
Upcoming improvements include the introduction of 500kW Supercharging for the Cybertruck by Q3 2025, along with the rollout of V4 Supercharger cabinets. Tesla also plans to implement changes in Supercharger pricing and introduce Virtual Queues to enhance user experience at busy charging stations.
