Tesla’s Global Expansion Continues with Launch in Morocco
Tesla is gearing up to make its grand entrance into Morocco next month, marking yet another significant milestone in the electric vehicle company’s rapid global expansion. The official launch event is scheduled to take place on February 6 at the Anfaplace Mall in Casablanca, where Tesla will unveil its popular Model 3 and Model Y vehicles to the Moroccan market.
The event, set to run from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time, invites locals to be among the first to experience Tesla in Morocco. While it’s not confirmed whether the more affordable Standard variants of the Model 3 and Model Y will be available at launch, anticipation is high for the arrival of Tesla’s cutting-edge electric vehicles in the North African country.
Tesla’s entry into Morocco has been in the works for some time, with the company establishing its Moroccan subsidiary in May of last year. With an initial investment of 27.5 million Moroccan dirhams, or approximately $3.75 million, Tesla is demonstrating its long-term commitment to the region. The subsidiary is based in the prestigious Casablanca Marina business district, underscoring Tesla’s strategic intentions beyond a mere pilot program.
Leading up to the launch, Tesla has quietly been building out charging infrastructure across key cities like Casablanca, Tangier, and Rabat. Supercharger stations are already operational, ensuring that Moroccan Tesla owners will have convenient access to charging facilities as they embrace sustainable transportation.
The timing of Tesla’s Moroccan debut aligns with the country’s growing interest in electric vehicles. Following an 80% surge in 2025, passenger EV sales in Morocco are projected to increase by 36.3% this year, exceeding 7,200 units, according to BMI data. The February 6 event will give attendees the opportunity to interact with Tesla staff, learn about vehicle ownership, explore home charging options, and gain insights into the company’s overarching mission.
This move into Morocco is part of Tesla’s broader international expansion strategy, which has recently seen the company open orders for the Model 3 and Model Y in Colombia and prepare for launches in Estonia and Latvia. Additionally, Tesla is making strategic shifts towards autonomy, with CEO Elon Musk announcing the discontinuation of the Model S and Model X during the latest earnings call. Musk reaffirmed Tesla’s commitment to producing fully autonomous vehicles like the Cybercab and Robovan, as well as teasing the potential unveiling of a next-generation Roadster as early as April.
Despite reporting a slight decline in annual revenue, Tesla’s launch in Morocco underscores the company’s ongoing focus on geographic expansion as a key element of its long-term growth strategy. As Tesla continues to push boundaries in the electric vehicle market and beyond, its expansion into Morocco signals yet another exciting chapter in the company’s global journey.
