Tesla has recently launched a new update for its Full Self-Driving (Supervised) software, with early testers now receiving FSD version 14.2.2. This update is a part of software version 2025.45.5 and is currently being rolled out to a wider group of early access users.
The rollout of FSD 14.2.2 was first noticed by Tesla enthusiast Sawyer Merritt (@SawyerMerritt), who shared that he had received the update on his Model Y. While the release notes don’t mention any new features, they do provide more details about previously available options. One notable addition is the adjustment of the navigation pin based on the selected Arrival Option. Tesla has also included explicit directions to the new Self-Driving Stats section introduced with FSD 14.2 last month, allowing users to view their Self-Driving stats under Controls > Autopilot.
One key improvement with FSD 14.2.2 is the dynamic shifting of the destination pin based on the Arrival Options selected by drivers. This enhancement provides users with a better understanding of where the car will stop, whether it’s at the front entrance, parking lot, or a more precise drop-off point.
While the release notes for FSD 14.2.2 remain largely unchanged from previous point releases, Tesla has been making significant backend improvements. These include an upgraded neural network vision encoder that enhances the system’s ability to recognize emergency vehicles, road obstacles, and human gestures. FSD 14.2.1 even allows drivers to text while driving under certain road and traffic conditions, indicating that fully “unsupervised” autonomy is approaching.
Looking ahead, Elon Musk has teased FSD 14.3 as the “last big piece” needed to achieve true autonomous driving, with the release expected in the coming weeks. Additionally, Tesla is already testing unsupervised FSD with its Robotaxi fleet in Austin, Texas, paving the way for autonomous ride-hailing services.
If you’re using FSD 14.2 or later, you can now access the new “Self-Driving Stats” section. This feature allows you to track how many miles your Tesla has driven autonomously. Share your experience with the Self-Driving Stats section in the comments below.
In other Tesla news, the company has opened an official Engineering Investigation into ongoing issues with the Cybertruck’s windshield wiper, indicating that the “Gigawiper” saga is far from over. Tesla has also signaled its Robotaxi expansion with a new website, hinting at accelerated autonomous ride-hailing plans beyond current pilot programs. Additionally, Tesla has secured a significant Megapack order for a battery storage project in the U.K., further solidifying its presence in the energy sector. The pandemic has changed the way we live, work, and interact with one another. As the world continues to navigate through these unprecedented times, it is becoming increasingly clear that the effects of the pandemic will be long-lasting and far-reaching. From the way we shop to the way we socialize, every aspect of our lives has been impacted in some way by the global health crisis.
One of the most significant changes brought about by the pandemic is the shift towards remote work. With many companies implementing work-from-home policies to prevent the spread of the virus, more and more people are finding themselves working from the comfort of their own homes. While this shift has its benefits, such as increased flexibility and reduced commute times, it also comes with its challenges. Many employees are struggling to find a work-life balance, as the boundaries between work and home life become increasingly blurred.
Another major change brought about by the pandemic is the way we shop. With many brick-and-mortar stores closing their doors or operating at reduced capacity, consumers have turned to online shopping in record numbers. This shift towards e-commerce has not only changed the way we shop, but also the way we think about consumerism. As people become more conscious of their spending habits and the environmental impact of their purchases, there has been a growing interest in sustainable and ethical shopping practices.
The pandemic has also had a profound impact on the way we socialize. With restrictions on gatherings and social distancing guidelines in place, many people have had to find new ways to connect with friends and family. Video calls and virtual hangouts have become the new norm, allowing people to stay connected while staying safe. While these virtual interactions have helped bridge the gap between loved ones, many people are longing for the day when they can once again hug their friends and family members in person.
As we continue to navigate through these uncertain times, it is important to remember that we are all in this together. The pandemic has forced us to adapt and change in ways we never thought possible, but it has also shown us the resilience and strength of the human spirit. By supporting one another, practicing kindness and compassion, and staying hopeful for the future, we can emerge from this crisis stronger and more united than ever before.
