Tesla Q1 Supercharger Stats: 53M Sessions, 2,500 New Stalls, and More
Tesla has released its Supercharging statistics for the first quarter of 2026, showcasing a rapidly expanding network. Despite traditionally being the quietest quarter, Tesla managed to deliver as much energy globally in Q1 as it did during the record-breaking third quarter of 2025.
According to the latest data, Tesla added 2,500 new Supercharger stalls in Q1, a 19% increase year-over-year. The company also saw a 22% rise in energy delivery compared to the same period last year, translating to significant savings in gasoline consumption and CO2 emissions.
Efficiency and the V4 Pivot
A noteworthy development in Q1 is Tesla’s shift to producing only V4 Supercharger hardware, featuring longer cables and integrated payment terminals. This move aims to enhance accessibility for non-Tesla EVs at charging stations.
Tesla’s network expansion to include Dodge, Jeep, and Fiat owners contributed to a 26% increase in quarterly charging sessions, totaling 53 million. To meet rising demand, Tesla introduced “Folding Unit” Superchargers that are quicker and more cost-effective to deploy.
Mastering the Cold
Tesla’s data reveals improved efficiency with a decrease in wait times and “waiters” at stations, attributed to the cars’ performance in extreme weather conditions. The company’s emphasis on cold temperature performance, including battery preheating and AC ripple current, ensures high charging speeds even in winter.
The Lifestyle Charge
In addition to technical advancements, Tesla noted a 100% increase in the “Brain Charge” experience, serving 9,800 Tesla milkshakes at its Hollywood diner during the quarter. This highlights the evolving charging stop into a lifestyle experience rather than a mundane task.
With Q1 matching energy delivery from previous peak periods, Tesla is poised for a groundbreaking year in 2026. The network’s reliability and efficiency set the stage for potential record-breaking performance in the upcoming travel-heavy months.
