Tesla Battery Health Test Disappears in Latest Update
Have you noticed the Battery Health test missing from your Tesla after the recent software update? Many owners have reported that this useful diagnostic tool has mysteriously vanished from their vehicles.
With the release of software update 2025.26, Tesla has removed the Battery Health test from the Controls > Service menu and Service Mode for certain models.
Unraveling the Mystery
The availability of the Battery Health test now appears to be dependent on factors such as the vehicle’s model, age, and test history.
Clue #1. The test has been removed from newer vehicles. Owners of 2025 Model 3s and a 2024 Model S have reported that the option is no longer available under Controls > Service > Battery Health.
Clue #2. For some older vehicles, the test remains as read-only. Owners of 2018 Model 3s can view previous test results but cannot initiate a new test.
Clue #3. The test has been completely removed for some vehicles, while others still have access to it.
Clue #4. The Battery Health test has been entirely removed from the Cybertruck.
Changes in Testing
Tesla has also eliminated the on-demand version of the test from the user-accessible Service Mode. This change affects the ability to run the HV Battery Self Test at any time.
While the reason for the removal remains unclear, it is speculated that Tesla may be working on enhancing the battery health tool for more accurate diagnostics in the future.
As Tesla continues to evolve its diagnostic tools, owners are encouraged to stay informed about any new features or updates.
