Tesla Unveils Exciting New Navigation Features & Trailer Profiles in Upcoming Update
Exciting news for Tesla owners! The upcoming 2024 Tesla Holiday Update is set to introduce some innovative features, thanks to Tesla hacker Greentheonly who has once again delved into Tesla’s software to uncover upcoming additions. These features are currently in production code, hinting at what’s to come in the near future.
Among the latest discoveries by Green is the introduction of Trailer Profiles and new navigation routing options.
Trailer Profiles
The new Trailer Profiles feature will allow users to record their trailer mileage, specify whether it’s an open or closed trailer, and manage up to 20 different trailer profiles. This will enable more accurate range estimates, as the vehicle can track previous energy consumption based on trailer usage. Whether you’re hauling a car, boat, or lumber, this feature will cater to various load types.
Available for vehicles equipped with a tow hitch, this feature will be particularly useful for monitoring trailer usage and determining maintenance needs.
Prioritize Highways / Avoid Highways?
Navigation routing will gain two new preferences – “Prioritize Highways” and “Prioritize Time”. The former is expected to prioritize highway usage, while the latter will offer optimized routes for charging efficiency or time-saving purposes.
These additions, coupled with the upcoming FSD’s Hurry Mode, will offer drivers greater flexibility and control over their driving experience.
Anticipated Release
While these features are not yet live, their presence in the production code suggests an imminent launch. Keep an eye out for these updates in the coming months, as Tesla may activate them remotely in the near future.
