Tesla’s Megapacks from Shanghai’s Megafactory are Powering a $285 Million Battery Project in Australia
The first Tesla Megapacks produced at the new Megafactory in Shanghai are now being deployed to power the completion of a $285 million battery project in Australia. These units are being installed at Neoen Australia’s Western Downs Green Power Hub, where the second stage of the project consists of a 270 MW/540 MWh battery.
Reports indicate that the installation work has already been completed, and the battery has commenced the “energisation” process six weeks ahead of schedule. This showcases the efficiency and reliability of Tesla’s energy storage solutions.
Tesla officially opened its Shanghai Megafactory in December 2023, with the capacity to manufacture up to 10,000 Megapacks annually. The facility recently achieved a significant milestone by producing its 1,000th Megapack in July, highlighting its rapid scaling in global energy storage production. The deployment of these Megapacks in major projects worldwide demonstrates Tesla’s commitment to clean energy solutions.
The Megapack is Tesla’s flagship utility-grade energy storage solution designed for grid-scale applications.
