Tesla has made a quick turnaround on its recent Supercharger naming update after receiving feedback from confused owners. The update, which replaced traditional Geographic Site Names with Local Amenity Names, caused frustration among drivers trying to plan long-distance trips.
In response to the backlash, Tesla’s Director of Charging, Max de Zegher, acknowledged the misstep and announced that a new UI update will be rolled out in December. This update will display both the primary City/Town format and the secondary common site name or amenity, providing a clearer picture of where each Supercharger is located.
An immediate fix has already been deployed to the Tesla App and in-vehicle trip planner to revert back to the more familiar naming convention, ensuring smooth navigation during the upcoming holiday travel season. Additional improvements are on the way to enhance the user experience and address the initial goal of providing information on amenities at each Supercharger stop.
Stay tuned for the upcoming UI update in December, which aims to strike a balance between clarity and convenience for Tesla drivers. As Tesla continues to listen to feedback and make adjustments, the Supercharger experience is set to improve in the near future.
