The latest Tesla update, version 2024.38, is now being rolled out to various regions and vehicles. Thanks to Tesla hacker Greentheonly, we have a sneak peek at some exciting new features coming to Teslas.
License Plate Display
One of the most anticipated features is the ability to display your actual license plate in the vehicle’s visualization on the screen. This feature, initially suggested by readers in our article on The Most Requested Tesla Features, will soon be available in China. Users will have the option to customize the displayed license plate, adding a touch of personalization to their vehicle.
While currently limited to China, we anticipate that this feature will eventually be released globally, following Tesla’s trend of rolling out new features worldwide over time.
FSD Hardware Version Display
Another notable addition in the 2024.38 update is the inclusion of an easy way to determine your vehicle’s hardware version, specifically Hardware 3 or Hardware 4. By navigating to Controls > Software and tapping Additional Vehicle Information, users can now view their Autopilot hardware version.
Whether your vehicle has HW2.5, HW3, or AI4, this in-car display provides valuable information for Tesla owners. For those unable to access the vehicle, our guide on determining the hardware version of a Tesla can be a helpful resource.
New Battery Health Test & Service Mode Improvements
In addition to the above features, the 2024.38 update introduces a new and improved Battery Health Test. This test allows users to compare their car’s battery health score with similar vehicles in the Tesla fleet.
Furthermore, maintenance records can now be securely stored “in the car,” offering convenience and peace of mind for Tesla owners. While some features may not be activated yet, they are likely in active development, with glimpses provided in the latest update.
Alongside these enhancements, Tesla has included various Service Mode improvements and new visualizations in the 2024.38 update, enhancing the overall user experience.
