Tesla Sentry Mode Video Notifications – A Guide to Enabling and Receiving Alerts [Video]
Tesla’s Sentry Mode is a feature that keeps your vehicle’s cameras active and ready to record any suspicious activity. It acts as a 24/7 security system with 360-degree cameras for your Tesla. Recently, Tesla introduced the ability for the vehicle to send alerts to the owner when suspicious activity is detected.
To enable video notifications for Sentry Mode, make sure that both Sentry Mode and Dashcam are enabled. These features are usually disabled by default due to the power consumption of Sentry Mode. You also need to have Tesla’s Premium Connectivity subscription and a USB drive inserted into the designated port in your Tesla.
While video notifications are currently only available for iPhone and iPad users, Android support is expected in the future. Each video notification is 60 seconds long and can be viewed directly from the notification or within the Tesla app.
Sentry Mode records various events, but only specific triggers will result in a video notification being sent to your device. These triggers include the vehicle alarm being triggered or a threat to the vehicle caused by sudden jerky motions. Other events, such as a person walking closely to the vehicle, may be recorded by Sentry Mode but will not trigger a video notification.
It’s important to note that Sentry Mode’s mobile notifications are subject to regional availability due to local laws. The feature is currently available in North America, Australia, and most parts of Asia.
If your Tesla is part of a commercial fleet, the fleet managers will also receive alerts on the Tesla Fleet Dashboard. The 1-minute clip of the event will be accessible through the dashboard, while full-length clips can be viewed on a per-vehicle basis.
Overall, Tesla’s Sentry Mode video notifications provide added security and peace of mind for Tesla owners, allowing them to stay informed about any suspicious activity around their vehicle.
