Tesla has once again proven its dominance in the automotive industry, particularly in the realm of technology, according to the latest survey conducted by JD Power. Despite not being eligible for any official awards in the survey, Tesla’s performance stood out with a remarkable score that was double that of established automakers like Volkswagen.
The 2025 U.S. Tech Experience Index (TXI) Study by JD Power gathered feedback from 76,230 owners of new 2025 model-year vehicles. In this 10th annual study, Tesla emerged as the clear winner with an impressive rating of 873 out of 1,000 points. This score surpassed that of traditional automakers like Volkswagen and Toyota, who scored 432 and 436 points, respectively.
Following closely behind Tesla was Rivian, securing the second spot with a commendable score of 730 out of 1,000 points. However, both Tesla and Rivian were deemed ineligible for awards in the survey due to not meeting the study award criteria, which, as per reports, required automakers to be sold in all U.S. states.
As a result, Genesis officially received the top rank with a score of 538, followed by Cadillac with 526 points and Lincoln with 523 points. Despite not being eligible for awards, Tesla’s exceptional performance in the survey solidified its position as a frontrunner in technological innovation within the automotive industry.
The survey also highlighted insights from drivers regarding technology-related issues. Drivers reported a decrease of 6.3 problems per 100 vehicles compared to the previous year, indicating an overall improvement in user experience. Automatic climate control was singled out as a highly appreciated feature for its seamless management of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
Kathleen Rizk, senior director of technology at JD Power, emphasized the role of smart technology in anticipating driver needs and reducing cognitive workload. While features like car wash mode received criticism for its placement within infotainment menus, the blind spot camera garnered widespread praise. With 93% of drivers regularly using the feature and 74% expressing interest in having it in future vehicles, it’s clear that innovative technologies like these contribute significantly to enhancing the driving experience.
In conclusion, Tesla’s exceptional performance in JD Power’s survey underscores the company’s commitment to pushing boundaries in automotive technology. Despite not receiving official awards, Tesla’s unrivaled score reinforces its position as a leader in driving innovation and setting new standards for the industry.
