Tesla recently unveiled a new configuration of the Cybertruck, introducing a Long Range Rear-Wheel-Drive trim. This new version, however, is currently only available in Saudi Arabia and has not been released in the United States yet. The electric vehicle giant has decided to promote the Cybertruck in the Middle East first, with plans to expand its availability to North America later this year.
The Cybertruck’s Long Range Rear-Wheel-Drive trim boasts impressive specifications, including a range of 350 miles or 563 kilometers, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds, and a top speed of 180 km/h or 111 MPH. Unlike other trims, this version does not come with adjustable air suspension or a rear touchscreen. The price for this particular model has not been disclosed by Tesla.
During the Cybertruck’s initial unveiling in 2019, the Long Range Rear-Wheel-Drive trim was positioned as the most affordable option, priced at $39,990. Despite its early announcement, Tesla focused on launching All-Wheel-Drive trims first, which appeared to have higher demand. Now, with plans to release the Long Range Rear-Wheel-Drive trim in late 2025, Tesla is starting its rollout in the Middle East before bringing it to the U.S.
While Tesla has not officially listed the new Cybertruck trim in North America, the company has indicated that it will be available in the U.S. later this year. The decision to launch in the Middle East first could be attributed to regulatory processes, such as obtaining approval from the EPA. By introducing a more affordable option for the Cybertruck, Tesla aims to attract a wider customer base and potentially improve its delivery figures in the years to come.
The launch of the Long Range Rear-Wheel-Drive trim in the U.S. could be a significant turning point for the Cybertruck, as it addresses the demand for a more budget-friendly option in the electric pickup market. This strategic move could potentially boost sales and solidify the Cybertruck’s position as a top-selling EV pickup. Stay tuned for more updates on the availability and pricing of the Cybertruck’s latest configuration in the United States.
