Tesla has officially reintroduced the seven-seat configuration for the Model Y in Europe, fulfilling a highly requested feature. This option is now exclusively available for the Premium Long Range All-Wheel Drive model, allowing customers in countries like Germany, France, Spain, and the Netherlands to add the two forward-facing jump seats for an additional €2,500. Deliveries for these new seven-seat configurations are expected to commence between April and May of 2026.
This is not the first time European buyers have seen this option, as Tesla briefly offered a seven-seat layout on the older legacy Model Y in late 2024. However, the option disappeared with the launch of the updated Juniper refresh in early 2025. Now, over a year later, the third row has finally been integrated into the newer Juniper production lines at Giga Berlin.
When the third row is folded down, the cargo space remains virtually identical to the standard five-seat version at 894 liters. With all seven seats upright, there is approximately 381 liters of trunk space, enough for a couple of standard carry-on suitcases. However, the rear seats are more practical for small kids, as the standard wheelbase does not offer ample room in the far back.
Many buyers are hopeful that the stretched Model YL, currently sold in China with a longer wheelbase, will eventually make its way to global markets to provide more space for passengers. Until then, the seven-seat configuration is the only way to accommodate seven people in a Model Y without opting for the more expensive Model X.
